Nancy Kay Butcher

Nancy Kay (Clark) Butcher, 58, passed away at her residence in Ellettsville on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her loving husband, Mark was at her side.

 
She was born on November 26, 1951 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Forrest Clark and Enola (Johnson) Clark. Nancy was a 1970 graduate of Indianola High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in music and dance from Arizona State University. Nancy will be remembered for her talents, rhythm and grace exhibited in her music, dance, athletic, and artistic passions. She both taught and performed music in Europe; Boulder, CO; Beverly Hills, CA; Malibu, CA; and Ellettsville. Piano, percussion and harp were her favored instruments. She loved playing music at her church for the God who gave her the talent. Nancy also enjoyed working with seniors in care facilities and volunteered as a foster parent for dogs in training for the sight impaired and for other dogs and cats in need of a temporary home. She was a member of the Ellettsville First Assembly of God Church.
 
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Forrest R. Clark.
 
Nancy is survived by her husband of eleven years, Mark Butcher; step-son, David Butcher; mother, Enola Disbrow of Indianola; sisters, Karen Warner and husband Tim of Augusta, KS, and Connie Walters of Des Moines, IA; brother, Keith Clark and wife Beth of St. Mary’s, IA; mother in law, Mary Henson and her husband Bill; father in law, Marshall Butcher and his wife Carolyn; sisters in law, Angel Butcher, Tracy Butcher-Meadows, and Lisa Butcher all of Bloomington; brother in law, Scott Butcher, and several nieces, nephews, friends, and her church family.
 
Funeral services for Nancy will be held at the Ellettsville First Assembly of God Church on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Carter officiating. Interment is to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
